These chicks stay with their parents until about five weeks of age, when they are then taken to our Avian Conservation Center for fish school where they learn to swim and eat. Two Giraffe Calves Born at the Zoo! June 1, 2006
The Zoo is thrilled to welcome not one, but two giraffe calves into the world. The first of these delightful and plucky animals was born on May 9 and the second was born on May 18. They are the first giraffes to be born in the Zoo's African Savanna, which will be their home.
