to Connect, Care, and Conserve –

starting with our littlest learners!

Create a unique experience for you and your child while learning about animals through crafts, pretend play, music, Zoo walks, and best of all, animal visitors!

Some favorite stories from participating parents:

• “For their 3 year old birthday, the twins wanted a carousel cake.  What animals to include?  A cassowary, of course.”

• “Some kids want a teddy bear.  Or maybe a tiger.  This 20 month old begged for a siamang!”

• “She was nervous to come to snake class.  But by the end of the lesson, she boldly petted the snake animal visitor and thereafter proudly told anyone that would listen how she wasn’t scared anymore.”

All classes include a small snack to keep little ones going. For teens, we offer numerous volunteer opportunities.

Little Learners classes take place in the Zoo's charming Fisher-Price® Little Learners' Log Cabin. The 840-square-foot cabin nestled in a 3,000-square-foot wooded grove site in the Children's Zoo is an eco-friendly education center, made of recycled logs and lumber and filled with multi-sensory learning tools including an early childhood library, tactile tables, animal-based toys and animal-designed toddler tables and chairs.
